How to vet any window company
Five questions worth asking before you sign anything
- “Does the lifetime warranty include glass breakage?” Most do not. Ask for the clause in writing, not a verbal yes.
- “Who is physically installing this — your employees or a subcontractor?” Both can be fine. You just want to know who to call in year three.
- “Can I see the NFRC label for the exact glass you are quoting?” Every legitimate window has one. Vague “energy efficient” language is a red flag.
- “Is this price good next week?” A discount that expires when the salesperson leaves your kitchen was never a discount.
- “Retrofit or full-frame, and why for my house?” If they cannot explain the difference in plain language, they are not the ones to decide it.
